Well, as per the recent guidelines, Medium doesn't pay writers for claps and views. You get paid for the read time from the paid members and some form of engagement like highlighting a few phrases and comments. But again, Medium's algorithm is a mystery.

From what I have seen in my case and others is that the initial months, your earnings would be peanuts. Write more articles with a minimum read time of 4-7 minutes. You also need to follow Medium's guidelines strictly which if you follow, your articles might get curated which would result in a wider audience.
