I think this holds true for all news channels around the world. As showcased in the movie, "Nightcrawler", the negative news creates a sensation and hence that news sells more than the positive news. The reason being hate and fear are a reactive emotion that demands action.

The print and TV news media are able to capitalize on this. I also found that this existed all the time in every government of our country, and that's the sad part.
